Medically-Compromised Patients

Cancer Patients

Dr. Pivor is experienced in meeting the needs of medically-compromised patients. He works with the oncologists of the Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital to screen and evaluate the needs of cancer patients before commencing chemotherapy. Dr. Pivor provides dental treatment to reduce the risk of osteonecrosis, which is the damage of areas of the jaw bone as a result of reduced blood supply. This condition can be associated with high doses of certain drugs called bisphosphonates, required by some cancer treatment regimens.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a condition in which breathing stops periodically during sleep as many as 20-30 times per hour. If untreated, it may lead to serious medical problems. If sleep apnea is suspected, we can help you to arrange a sleep study with a qualified physician. A custom-fabricated oral appliance can be created by Dr. Pivor. These oral appliances can sometimes be used to reduce the risk factors from sleep apnea.

As an oncologist I collaborate with Dr. Pivor to ensure my patients are in optimal dental health preceding, during and following their cancer treatment.
