Restorative Dentistry

Modern dental technology allows us to restore the comfort and proper function of your teeth along with the return of an attractive smile.

If cavities, broken or missing teeth are causing you discomfort and embarrassment, we offer the restorative solutions to correct your problem. We will educate you to be able to make the proper choices to return your mouth back to optimal health.

A filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape. Resin and ceramic dental materials along with bonding allow us to provide fillings that are strong, long lasting, safe, and natural looking. In areas of extreme biting pressure, gold may be the recommended restorative material.

Crowns are used to entirely cover a damaged tooth. They may be used to restore a large cavity or to replace a large filling, which protects the tooth from fracturing. Crowns are also recommended to cover a tooth that has had root canal therapy, or to cover a dental implant. They are natural looking and indistinguishable from your surrounding teeth.

Dr. Pivor is able to create natural-looking fixed bridges to replace missing teeth and provide support for remaining teeth. They are cemented into place using either your teeth or dental implants as their foundation. Missing teeth cause your oral health to deteriorate and detract from your appearance. A well-made dental bridge will allow you to speak, chew, and smile with confidence again.

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is necessary when an untreated cavity reaches the nerve of the tooth. Treatment may also be needed when deep restorations or trauma to a tooth cause nerve damage or result in the tooth becoming abscessed. If left untreated, severe pain or loss of the tooth may occur. Usually a crown is recommended to restore a tooth that has undergone root canal treatment.

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Well-made, proper-fitting dentures allow you to eat and speak comfortably and bring back your smile. Dental implants are often used to provide additional stability for your denture. Dr. Pivor can create dentures that look natural and give you the confidence to enjoy food and socialize again.

Dental Implants

The most effective way to replace a tooth is often through the use of dental implants. The implant replaces the tooth root that anchors the tooth to the jaw. After the implant is fully integrated to the bone, a crown is placed over it that looks and feels almost like your original tooth. Adjacent teeth no longer have to be “drilled down” to replace a missing tooth. Dental implants are also used to firmly anchor fixed bridges replacing several missing teeth. For patients with troublesome lower dentures that do not stay in place, implants may provide the solution to your problem.

I needed to desperately find a new dentist because I needed extensive dental work. I decided to go with my good friend’s advice and try her dentist whom she raved about. Dr. Pivor took the time to carefully explain every procedure to me beforehand so I wouldn’t be nervous. I would highly recommend Dr. Pivor as you are not only getting a great dentist, but a caring staff, as well.
